Community

Cultivating an ethical, sustainable, and joyful community is one of the primary goals of The New Eden Collaborative.   First Parish Church’s main New Eden Collaborators are the Green Artists League (GAL), Transition Newburyport, Great Marsh Organics CSANorthshore Permaculture, and the New Eden Gardeners and Chicken Co-op.  New Eden also works with other groups and individuals to work on community education, environmental and social projects and some seriously earth friendly fun.

In the spirit of caring community, New Eden collects donations twice weekly from the gardeners’ organic harvest to give to the local food pantries. New Eden also grows a mission flower garden to for the food pantry because the human spirit needs beauty as much as the stomach needs food.

Some of the other ways that members of New Eden come together include:

Celebrating the Earth through First Parish’s Interfaith Blessing of the Earth Ceremony on Earth Day Weekend

Inviting friendship through our monthly garden   work / play potluck parties.

Raising  consciousness of  the  growing environmental crisis and our own responsibilities as stewards of the Earth through community actions.
